51% of Indians feel AI could replace their Jobs, 62% Expect Transformation
According to an IPSOs survey, Six in 10 urban Indians are nervous about the impact of AI on products and services, while one in two Indians fear AI will replace their jobs.

The findings are the result of a 31-country study of 22,816 adults conducted by a market research firm. While 51 percent of urban Indians fear that their current job will be replaced by AI, around 62 percent believe that their current job could be replaced by AI. 65 percent of urban Indians expect products and services that use AI to change their daily lives in the next three to five years.
Awareness of AI among the urban Indians who were part of the survey was very high, with 64 percent of them claiming to have a good understanding of AI, while 62 percent claimed to be aware of products and services that use AI.

Mixed feelings about AI :

A large majority of Indian survey respondents have positive feelings towards AI with 65 percent believing that the benefits outweigh the negatives of using products and services. 66 percent said they were enthusiastic about using such products. But on the other hand, 58 percent said they fear products and services that use AI.
They have polarized views about whether AI will improve the situation in the next three to five years. 57 percent believe AI will improve the time it takes to do things, while 50 percent believe AI will improve their health. 48 percent are confident that AI will improve the job.

54 percent believe that the Indian economy will improve because of AI, while 57 percent believe that their entertainment options (including television/video content, movies, music, books and more) will improve because of AI.

warning :

The Indian portion of the survey represents only a subset of its urban population, the upper class, upper middle class, and middle class in metros and cities within one to three cities. It is not fully representative of India's urban population, much less the entire Indian population.
